Q: When did the first Columbia 30 hit the water?
A: We launched Hull #1 in Annapolis, Maryland at the US Sailboat Show in early October, 2004 to an enthusiastic response. After conducting sea trials following the show in the Chesapeake, we trailered the 30 back from Annapolis to California to deliver her to her new owner in Newport Beach.

Q: Can I finance my purchase?
A: Yes, in fact, Columbia Yachts has a financing partner that will work with you to arrange the best solution for you. Contact us directly for more information.

Q: Since Columbia Yachts sells “factory direct,” how do I get my new Columbia 30 to where I live and sail (for instance, the East Coast)?
A: Columbia Yachts will arrange transportation for you for an additional cost – please contact us directly for estimates to your area.

Q: How will Columbia support warranty issues for customers outside of California?
A: The Columbia 30 comes with a limited one year warranty. Columbia will repair defects in construction at our factory or if distance makes such repair impractical, then Columbia Yachts will arrange for repairs to be made at a reputable repair facility in your area. All components are warranted by their original manufacturers – please see your Owner’s Manual and respective equipment documentation for details.

Q: How easy is the Columbia 30 to tow?
A: There are a lot of boats that are described as “trailerable.” However, when you are talking about moving a 30-foot sailboat around, “trailerable” can take on different meanings. For instance, if a boat doesn’t have a retractable keel, or is overly heavy, trailering becomes impractical. The Columbia 30 has an easily retractable keel and weighs less than 4,000 pounds, making it easy to trailer, set up and break down, and move from regatta to regatta. Or, just from your house to the harbor, saving you mooring fees.

Q: Does the Columbia 30 have a head?
A: Yes, the Columbia 30 has a fully enclosed head in the forward v-berth compartment. The head is a marine head complete with holding tank to both meet marine standards, and contribute to the comfort of you and your crew.

Q: How is the boat constructed?
A: The Columbia 30 Sportsailer is carefully constructed with premium materials and proven, modern building methods. Hull components are vacuum resin-infused E-glass with PVC foam core. The deck is resin infused E-glass with Balsa core, eliminating the need for local high-density plants in way of hardware. The Carbon Fiber Superstructure (with unidirectional carbon fiber reinforcement) handles all rigging and keel loads. Most joinery also serves as structural framing, minimizing weight.

Q: Can I upgrade the engine?
A: Absolutely. Though the standard 9.1 HP Yanmar diesel saildrive should be enough for most applications, there are some customers who desire more power. Columbia Yachts offers a 14HP fresh-water cooled Yanmar diesel saildrive for an additional cost, either in raw water or fresh water configurations.

Q: Has the design been reviewed/evaluated?
A: Yes, Robert Perry reviewed the design, in the March, 2003 edition of Sailing Magazine. The Columbia 30 has also been sailed and reviewed by SAIL and Practical Sailor magazines.

Q: Does the Columbia 30 come with an owner’s manual?
A: Yes, we provide what we feel is the most extensive owner’s manual in the business.

Q: Where can I see the Columbia 30?
A: You can always make an appointment to come by our shop to see a Columbia, or to arrange a test sail. Also, Columbia Yachts will exhibit the Columbia 30 at a number of boat shows throughout the year.
