Designer Tim Kernan describes the special alignment that he has with Columbia Yachts, and with the Columbia 32 in particular: "When client Vince Valdes approached us to design a new 30' sport boat to mark the renaissance of the venerable Columbia marque, we were intrigued. The design brief depicted a kind of boat that really would be unique in the market. Moreover, many of us grew up sailing Columbias, so to be involved in the rebirth of the marque had a special appeal."
